ParaScale rolls out private cloud storage

ParaScale announced enhancements to its Cloud Storage software that lets IT administrators to build storage clouds based on any x86 servers running Linux. PCS R2.0 lets a ParaScale cl8uster to serve as a backup platform for virtual machines, which can boot directly from the cluster. Enhancements to the software also include APIs based on SOAP and REST that allow users to integrate with third-party dashboards and workflows, synchronous replication capability that is controlled by policies, multi-tenancy support which enables chargeback and improved reporting and monitoring capabilities. ParaScale Cloud Storage software R2.0 is expected to be available later this month starting at $.95 per gigabyte.

QLogic announces 8Gbit Fibre Channel/Ethernet module for Sun Blades

QLogic on Monday announced an 8Gbit Fibre Channel/1Gbit Ethernet ExpressModule for Sun’ Blade 6000 systems that will be available as the Sun StorageTek Dual 8Gb Fibre Channel Dual GbE ExpressModule Host Bus Adapter. The adapter consolidates Ethernet and Fibre Channel connectivity into a single card, thereby optimizing server space and I/O density. The adapter has 1Gbit Ethernet and two 8Gbit Fibre Channel ports and is backward compatible to 2- and 4Gbit Fibre Channel devices.

DataDirect Networks rolls out HPC storage appliance

DataDirect today rolled out a storage appliance for high-performance computing environments that lets users build scale-out file systems. The SFA10000E Open Storage Appliance uses the Lustre File System and IBM’s General Parallel File System to build clusters of storage, interconnected by either InfiniBand or 10Gbit Ethernet. The SFA10000 is able to be scaled to over 2.4PB of storage and delivers 10GB/sec read and write bandwidth.
